Akira is a 2016 Indian action drama film co-written, directed, and produced by AR Murugadoss.^[5] It is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film Mouna Guru,^[6][7] and features Sonakshi Sinha in the titular role.^[8]

Principal photography began in March 2015, and the film released worldwide on 2 September 2016.^[5][9] The soundtrack composed by Vishal-Shekhar has been released on August 16, 2016.
